Specialty Therapy
The Body Center Physical Therapy has been a source for high skilled orthopedic and spine rehabilitation in Claremont since 2006. As a small therapist owned and operated practice we are also able to provide rehabilitation to special populations in a small and personal setting.
Our clinical staff consists of doctoral trained physical therapists who are board certified in orthopedic rehabilitation. The clinical reasoning and problem solving approach mastered in orthopedics is applied to movement dysfunctions in other systems with superior results.
- Movement Dysfunction
Patients with movement dysfunctions resulting from neurological injuries or diseases have also benefited from our personalized rehabilitation.
- Pelvic Floor Muscle Dysfunction
Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction resulting in urinary incontinence, has been effectively treated using a computer based biofeedback program. Our exercise program begins with an awareness and isolation of the pelvic floor musculature and a progression to more strenuous exercise utilizing the Pilates Reformer apparatus.
- Walking Intolerance
Walking intolerance due to either degenerative disc disease or cardiovascular disease can often be improved with Physical Therapy. We take a comprehensive approach to building walking tolerance utilizing cardiovascular, Pilates and manual therapy treatment interventions to address impairments to walking function. Monitoring with pulse oximeters and exertional scales ensures exercise interventions are performed in the safest manner possible.
- Hand Therapy
The Body Center offers a unique and innovative approach to treating hand dysfunction.A program of rehabilitation is performed by both board certified orthopedic specialists in physical therapy in the treatment of hands. We comprehensively treat problems in the upper extremity as well as specifically treating individualized problems within the hand.We are equipped with all of the critical and important tools for the rehabilitation of a variety of hand dysfunctions.
We offer a variety of splinting options with custom fabricated splinting, as well as, over the counter splints to help with challenging range of motion issues. Through our relationships with companies such as Dyna-splint we are able to provide a comprehensive range of dynamic splinting options to quickly address mobility needs. As our patients progress, we are able to offer a wide variety of interventions to improve dexterity, coordination, grip strength and power utilizing traditional and non-traditional hand therapy equipment.
- Custom Foot Orthotics
Custom foot orthotics can have a profound positive effect on walking function and the reduction of foot pain and dysfunction. We perform biomechanical based orthotic care, capitalizing on our movement expertise. Determining the mechanical problem areas, we can address the dysfunction with both exercise endurance and coordination activities that together will improve the outcomes of the custom orthotic device.
